Here are the surnames of people connected with Russia. Some are prezent on our site, some are with genealogical information, some with contact information of their reprezentatives. Everything is in Russian. I won't translate it for you - it is a very big site and webmastering it takes a lot of time, but you can try any autotranslating service or find a person who knows Russian..
You can post your search message on the messageboard. I understand that it is difficult for a person who don't know Russian (there is a Russian interface there), but you can try.
When you get there, you can push the left red-brown square button:
In the upper line you are to write the head of your message. On the third line you are to write your name, or you can leave the word Guest there. Write nothing on the fourth line. And write you message in the lowest square. The message will be posted when you'll push the left lower square gray button on which it is written something like OTIIPABNTL. Don't forget to write your contact information, so that people could answer you somehow. Or you can remember the address of your message (when it appears) and vizit it to look if somebody answered.
If you wont'manage, we can post your message on this page or on the messageboard. It's free. Write Stas at mr.ghost@mail.ru and he'll post it, maybe not immediately.

I am looking for information on our Rabofsky or Rabovsky family. Here's what I know: Abraham (or Avram) and Ester Rabofsky (sometimes written Rabovsky) had 8 children, at least 5 born in Russia (probably Ukraine or Belarus) before they immigrated to the U.S. in 1904 or 1906. Ester's (sometimes called Esta Reva) maiden name may be Spivak and she was born in approx. 1874. Children of hers born in Russia include F (1901), M (1890), M (1897), M (1900), and at least one more daughter. An Ellis Island entry that could possibly be for them lists their last residence in Chudnov. They settled first in Rochester, NY, and then in Chicago, IL. If any of this sounds familiar, please email me at mena_kramer@yahoo.com. Thanks! (October 2003).

ROCHEGOV, ROCHEV, ROCKLIN - Search

I am not finding the ROCKLIN family name in your list. I also think it could be spelled ROCHLIN, RACKLIN, RACHLIN, RAKLIN, ROKLIN. There was a famous Russian General named Rocklin who died a couple of years ago. y grandfather and many other Russians came from Minsk and Moscow. Bernard Rocklin of France knows me and the name originated in Alsace in the north of France when Alsace was part of Germany. Bernard feels that the Rocklins from Russia were begun by a Rocklin from Alsace. I know of hundreds of American Rocklins, Racklins, Rochlins, Rachlins who are descended from Russian, ByloRussian Jews. Why are there no Rocklins on your list? Please help as we want to find the birthplace of my grandfather, Michael Ellis Rocklin or his father Ellias Rocklin.  They both came to the USA in 1886, and I think they came from Moscow (MOCKBA). THANK YOU. (SPACIBA). Stanley Eliot Rocklin. stanrocklin@yahoo.com (September 2002)

I am trying to find the roots of my family which comes probably from the teritory of today's Lithuania, Byelorussia, Ukraine or maybe even Russia (the last one is less possible). All people bearing the name ROGATKO living in Poland are already found an put into one big tree. There are not so many. The tree has about 100 names and includes the memebrs of the family living today in the US, Brazil, Germany. My tree starts in the first half of the XIX century and I would be happy to share the information I gathered with anybody. The family legend says that our ancessor, Mr. Cyprian Rogatko came to Warsaw from the East, which means from the above mentioned teritories. But nobody knows for sure. I can read and write in Russian, but unfotunately I do not have the appropriate fonts on my computer to write in this language. But I can read. No problem. I speak also French. I am trying to locate relatives and history of my German family who came from the Saratov area near the Volga River.    The name I am researching is ROTH, (American spelling).    My grandparents married and immigrated to the USA shortly after their marriage on 7 May 1912 in either Grimm or Saratov.
Grandmothers name was Marie/Maria SCHAEFFER/SCHAEFER/SHAFER, daughter of Molly DUMLER  and Frederich SCHAEFFER. She was born 26 August 1889 in Lesnoi Karamysch, Russia (now known as Grimm).  She had several siblings, some given names were: Christ, Jacob, Frederick, Katherine, Elizabeth, and Carl.  Frederich Schaeffer was married twice (and we think he married sisters) and there were 3 daughters from his first wife: Molly, Eva, and Charlotte.  I understand they were exiled to Siberia after my grandparents left.
Grandfathers name was Alexander ROTH, son of Kathern MEISNER and Frederich ROTH.  He was born 18 April 1889 in Balanda, Russia.  He had 2 other brothers: Fred,  Charles, and a sister (name unknown).
My grandparents  married, and left a few days later to immigrate to the USA leaving from Bremen, Germany and arriving 13 June 1912 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  They lived in Chicago, Illinois for a few years and then spent the rest of their lives farming in Van Dyne, Wisconsin until retirement and then moved to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin in 1949.  I understand Alex worked in Saratov before immigrating to the USA.   The family was of the Lutheran faith, so they were probably married in a Lutheran Church in the area.  A brother of my Grandmother, Frederich, I understand was a Lutheran Minister who practiced in Hamburg, Germany.  I have an address where he resided in 1978, if that were of any importance.
I have hit a "Brick Wall" so to speak.  I cannot find out anything about the family in Russia, when or if there are any relatives left.  I feel like there should be as they were a fairly large family although some did migrate to the US, not all of them did.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.  It would be wonderful to find some relatives there and to possibly go and visit.  Or at least communicate with.  My e-mail address is: sluffman@carolina.rr.com

RUBIN Looking for Philp Rubin who came from Russia 1899 and married Bessie Applebaum who came from Russia 1901.  No history other than settled in Philedelphia PA. justmystuff@comcast.net (January 2003)

My name is John Ruzanov and I am trying to locate relatives of my grandfather who came from Russia to the United States around 1910.  My grandfather's name was Ivan Andreevich Ruzanoff and I believe he worked for the Trans-Siberian Railway.  I think he may have lived in Samara, Russia.  He left Russia through Harbin, China, (then Russia) where he got his passport for him and his family.  They sailed from Vladivostok to Hawaii and later to the United States.Ivan's wife's name was Maria.  Her maiden name may have been Fedarovna (or Mikishin).  They had four children when they left Russia; the children's names were Victor, Helena, Michael and Anna.  Another son Peter was born in Hawaii, and Alex and Mary, were born near Sacramento, California, USA.  Of these children only Mary is still alive. My father was Victor Ruzanov. My address is:
1025 Third Avenue

95818, USA
